College was not at all what I imagined. No one here reminds you of deadlines every minute, but every missed practice is a minus to your skills. You are responsible for how your cream will be - stable or settled, for the sponge cake - airy or dense. Sometimes I feel like an adult: standing in uniform at my desk, with a whisk in my hand, and I know exactly what I’m doing. And sometimes - the same girl who baked cupcakes for the first time and was upset that they didn’t rise.
I love early mornings in the laboratory - when it’s still quiet, just the hum of the mixers and the smell of vanilla and fresh dough. In my backpack I always have a notebook with recipes, a spare hair tie and a container with something sweet “to try”. I'm one of those people who believes that dessert can change the mood of the day
